Abstract

Purpose: This thesis is an experimental study and evaluation of the alcohol/driver’s education (DWI) program in Nueces County, Texas. It measured the effectiveness of educating judicially sentenced individuals after they had been selected to attend a County-City driving while intoxicated program. Methods: A Pre-Post tests was used to measure the independent variable (attendance at and exposure to and alcohol/driver’s education program). A Classic One-Way, Pre-Post Design was used for control purposes. The population was randomly selected, blind-coded and judicially sentenced. Results: The experimental study indicated positive and significant results. These positive indications show that the educational program provides substantial and positive evidence that the alcohol/driver’s education program is worth repeating and that it should be continued.
