Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was three-fold: (1) firstly, it was to determine if there are measurable personality characteristics which could be utilized to assist parole authorities in their decision to distinguish successful parolees from parole violators prior to release from prison; (2) secondly, it was the aim of this research to learn if either the successful parole group, the felony parole violation group, or the technical parole violation group, is similar to, or distinguishable from the prison population as a whole; and (3) thirdly, it was to provide a descriptive summary concerning the psychological characteristics of the parolees and inmates used in the research.
