| dc.description.abstract | Purpose: It was the purpose of this thesis (1) to establish local physical efficiency norms for the freshmen boys enrolled in physical education classes at Sam Houston State College; (2) to compare results of the Sam Houston State College Physical Efficiency test to certain national norms to determine areas of physical weakness of the student.; (3) to assign T-scores and letter grades to each student in each event tested; (4) to state uses for which established T-scores and letter grades may be used. Methods: The methods used to obtain data for this thesis were (1) testing the freshmen boys in physical education classes at Sam Houston State College using the Sam Houston State College Physical Efficiency test: (2) examination and study of books and journals. Findings: from the evidence presented in this thesis the following conclusions were found: 1.) Sam Houston State College freshmen boys are not notably weak in any area of physical fitness scored on the Sam Houston State College Physical Efficiency Test. 2.) The letter grades and T-Scores should be posted in all areas where test is given. 3.) The physical fitness letter grade should determine one-fourth of the physical education grade. 4.) Instructors should be reviewed each semester in methods of administering the physical efficiency test. | |
